Art

Amy Broady.jpg I grew up in Fredericksburg, VA, earned my bachelor's degree in Art Design from Duke University in Durham, NC, and my Master of Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. I began my career as an art educator in 1995, and have also embraced periods of being a stay-at-home-mom to my two children, who are now in college. My creative passions are Zentangle® and mixed media (an excuse for trying all sorts of materials, tools, and techniques!). I have been sharing the Zentangle method of drawing with children and adults since 2010, when I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT™). A firm believer in the benefits and necessity of lifelong learning, this past year I began studying and practicing the folk art of batik-style eggs, known as pysanky, or Ukrainian Easter eggs. Outside the art studio and classroom, I love to travel, hike, and ski with my family. My husband Roy and I have been married for 24 years and are the proud parents of Caroline (20) and Joseph (18). I am a "dog person;" our family is blessed with Pausha, our smart, sweet German Shorthaired Pointer. My childhood hero is Walt Disney, and my superpower is daydreaming. To be honest, I have been daydreaming of an opportunity to teach at a school like KJDS long before I even knew that such a school existed here in Knoxville!
I am very excited to join the KJDS community and I look forward to meeting each of you.
