THE RED BUTTON

Sometimes kids just get stuck - worn out from a long day of learning, they need a way to get invigorated during the course of the day.  Ron Clark uses what is called, "the red button."    During the course of the day, to celebrate class successes, e.g. a test session gone well, a group problem solved, etc., the teachers push a red button and the kids know what to do next!  The button plays music - a fun, exciting song- and the kids all get up in their seats and jump around, dance, etc.  When the music stops, the kids immediately go back to work.  It is another example of a motivator that kids work toward and enjoy, making their school experiences unique from those of their non-KJDS friends.
